Internationalism Working Group

Internationalism Working Group

The Internationalism Working Group (IWG) aims to build solidarity with global movements for a more just world. We are committed to opposing militarism and global capitalism from the capital of the U.S. empire. Through direct action, political education, and coalition building, we seek to put global solidarity at the center of our socialist practice.

Palestine solidarity is our foremost priority for the foreseeable future and our chapter is committed to stand with the movement for Palestinian liberation. We are working to deepen our organizing for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions on Israel, including by participating in national DSA’s Stop Fueling Genocide campaign against Chevron. We seek to leverage our position in DC to support the demands for an arms embargo on Israel and an end to US support for the Zionist ethnostate.

Bodily Autonomy Working Group

Bodily Autonomy Working Group

If you’re interested in getting involved, please fill out our interest form

We fight for queer, trans, and feminist liberation and against systems of patriarchal capitalist oppression that devalue women and LGBTQIA+ people, under the guidance of Reproductive Justice. We organize for the democratization of domestic and care work, political and social liberation for all genders, full bodily autonomy for all, and the end of state recognition of the gender binary. We fight for material improvements in the lives of working class people who are marginalized on the basis of gender and sexuality, including reproductive justice, access to gender-affirming and LGBTQIA+ competent healthcare, affordable housing, legal protections for all gender identities, especially transgender children and BIPOC trans comrades, sex work decriminalization, and an end to state interference and police harassment. In short, we demand nothing less than power over our own lives.

Reproductive justice and trans liberation are the front lines of the fight against the far right and their agenda of christofascism. As socialists, it is our duty to organize for total control of our own bodies as a fundamental right. Our demands for the community go beyond mere acceptance, pushing for nothing less than total liberation and full participation in society and democratization of the labor of social reproduction. It is imperative that we protect what progress we have obtained through decades of struggle and build upon the history of organizing for queer, trans, and women’s liberation. An injury to one is an injury to all and none of us are free until all of us are free!

Stomp Out Slumlords

Stomp Out Slumlords

Stomp Out Slumlords is a working group of Metro DC DSA that fights evictions and supports tenant organizing throughout the Washington metro area. We organize across the District of Columbia and in neighboring counties of Maryland and Virginia. Over our seven-year existence we have organized rent strikes and actions in dozens of buildings and won improved conditions, back rent, collectively bargained agreements, rent abatements, rent freezes, and in one case, tenant ownership of a 34-unit building. SOS is also a member of the Autonomous Tenants Union Network (ATUN).

Labor Working Group

Metro DC DSA’s Labor Working Group brings together workers across the DMV to strengthen the militant, socialist currents within the labor movement. We do this by offering labor education and training, supporting new organizing efforts, and standing in solidarity with workers’ struggles.

We Power DC

We Power DC

DC’s utility system should work for the public, not for profit. We Power DC is
fighting for a power system that works for and is owned by the residents of
the District of Columbia – one that works transparently and democratically to
fight the climate crisis, create union jobs, and meet everyone’s needs
regardless of their ability to pay.
